Challenge Exams
because you know your strengths

Understanding the needs of our adult learners, Strayer University enables undergraduate students to demonstrate their knowledge in selected courses through a Challenge Exam process. Successful completion of a Challenge Exam fulfills that requirement within the student’s undergraduate program.  The Challenge Exam is a test of the student’s mastery of certain subject matter and is carefully evaluated by the discipline head to determine if the student has demonstrated sufficient knowledge to award credit.

There are certain limitations to the Challenge Exams that should be noted.  Challenge Exams do not fulfill residency requirements and are not available for all courses.  Courses that already have existing CLEP or DANTES exams offered for them are not eligible for credit through the Challenge Exam process.  They are also not offered for graduate courses or undergraduate senior seminar and general elective courses.  Please refer to the listing by discipline to determine if a Challenge Test is available and the procedure to follow in order to request a Challenge Test for a course.
