MBA Program Announcement Coming Fall 2008
New Master of Business Administration Design

At Strayer University, we are committed to providing quality education in a supportive environment. That is why we are proud to launch the new Strayer University Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in fall 2008.

We listened to our students, our graduates and their employers, and updated our MBA program to make it more competitive, more flexible and more valuable to your future. The new outcomes-oriented, case -based curriculum will allow you immediately to apply what you learn in class to real business situations.

The MBA program will continue to be a 12-course program, with no additional credit requirements or cost to you if you maintain your current concentration. However, the program has an updated list of courses to incorporate the most current trends in business education such as globalization, business ethics and leadership.

The program will include six of the existing concentrations including: Acquisition, Finance, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Human Resource Management, Management, and Marketing. Select the links below to view the course changes in the existing MBA concentrations as well as the changes that will affect the Executive Graduate Certificate concentrations:

We are excited to introduce seven new concentrations in the MBA including: Accounting, Health Services Administration, International Business, Information Systems Management, Project Management, Public Administration and Professional Studies (a customized concentration made up of three graduate courses to best meet your professional goals). As always, Strayer University’s Academic Advisors and Campus Deans are available to discuss any questions you have about specific changes to the program design and the best course of action for you. Please contact your Campus Dean for more information on the New MBA program or you may email your inquires to MBAredesign@strayer.edu.

How does this change impact me?
As a current MBA student, you have three options from which to choose.

  1. You may switch to the revised program design for your current concentration. If you do so, we have mapped out a transition plan that ensures you will not lose any of the academic credit you have already earned.
  2. You may elect to enroll in one of our newly created concentrations. While this may require some additional coursework depending on how far along you are in your current concentration, you may find one of the new concentrations fits better with your personal and professional goals.
  3. You may choose to complete your program under the current program design.

Should I switch to the new design?
To make the right decision, we encourage you to consult with your Academic Advisor or Campus Dean. In general, if you have completed less than half the courses in your MBA, we recommend that you switch to the new MBA program design (either in the same concentration or another one) to avoid future scheduling problems. Between fall 2008 and fall 2009, there will be several courses in the old program that will only be available online, and after fall 2009, they may be discontinued altogether. If you select to remain in the old program, you may need to register for substitute courses that will be identified by your Academic Advisor. If you are farther along in your program, you may choose to switch to the new program design or to remain in the current program. An advisor can help you evaluate your options more specifically.

If I would like to switch, what should I do?
To switch to the new Master of Business Administration program design, please contact your home campus Academic Office to speak with an advisor and complete a change of status request. This request will involve a re-evaluation of your record and may take up to seven days.

Again, we encourage you to contact your Academic Advisor or Campus Dean to discuss your questions about the new program design and the best course of action for you. We look forward to introducing the new Master of Business Administration program and supporting you in the completion of your MBA, whatever your choice may be under the new options.

NOTE:
We recommend you consult with an academic advisor prior to changing your program
in order to ensure all of your educational objectives are being met.

Not all programs offered in all states, consult with your campus administration.
